Join the FirstCheck Africa Angel Program
A diverse community of angels investing into Africa-focused companies with the guidance and support of the FirstCheck Africa team.
What to expect when you join as an Angel
Our team has significant experience founding, investing in, and supporting technology start-ups. We ’ve created this community to provide an on-ramp to angel investing for mission aligned individuals.
Vetted companies
We share a pipeline of companies that we have conviction in. These will be exceptional founders building companies that are tackling Africa’s largest and most important market opportunities.
Hassle-free investment process
We manage the investment process from end to end. This involves sourcing companies, drafting the investment memos, setting up a Q&A with the founder, negotiating terms, and closing the investment.
Active community
Our community is engaged but light-touch; virtually managed through, Telegram, email & video calls. Our members are investors, operators and founders looking to become better and more active angel investors.
Learning opportunities
We provide multiple opportunities for learning about angel investing, start-ups, and entrepreneurship, including learning sessions, a bi-weekly newsletter and a curated resource library.

The FirstCheck Angel Program is a diverse community open to anyone who is interested in becoming a better angel investor and backing the next generation of African start-up founders, regardless of whether you have zero angel investments or a hundred angel investments. In order to deliver a great experience for members of the community and the founders we back, we have a few requirements.
- We charge an annual membership fee of $1,000. This is to cover the legal and administrative costs involved in running the syndicate and making investments.
- When angel investing, it is important to build a diversified portfolio of investments over time. For this reason, we expect each member of the community to make an average of one investment per quarter.
- We expect all members to act with integrity and embrace our values. Specifically we expect members to be actively engaged with the community, follow through on your commitments, to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality, to proactively inform us of any conflicts of interest, and to treat everyone with respect regardless of age, gender, nationality or race.
